Head T&T Team Coach
Brandon started in gymnastics at the age of 12 at Lynchburg Academy. In his first year of competing, he won his first national title in tumbling, igniting his passion for the sport. Brandon quickly moved up in levels competing as a Sr. Elite athlete and was named to the USA Senior National Team. He represented the USA in many international meets including two World Championships. Brandon has been coaching for over 12 years. He was the Assistant Coach to the National Tumbling Coach at Capital Gymnastics National Training Center for 6 years. He has coached several State, Regional, and National Champions as well as US National Team members. Brandon also served on the Virginia USAG Board of Directors as the Athlete Rep. and currently serves as the Coaches Representative. As a USAG Professional Member, Brandon is also a Cat. 1 T&T Judge, is safety certified, and a certified personal trainer with ACSM. Brandon graduated from Marymount University with a B.S. in Health Sciences where he studied Physical Therapy.
Head Artistic Team Coach and Program Director
Samantha began gymnastics at age four and quickly fell in love with the sport. She competed through Level 9 and trained through Level 10 for Capital Gymnastics National Training Center under the USA National Team Coach. Shortly after that, Samantha found a new passion: coaching. She has been coaching both recreational and competitive gymnastics since 2008. Samantha is a USAG Professional Member and is safety certified. She truly enjoys sharing her love of gymnastics with young and energetic athletes. Samantha graduated from George Mason University with a B.S. in Tourism and Events Management.
Assistant T&T Team Coach/Recreational Tumbling Coach
Cameron competed in Trampoline & Tumbling for 10 years winning many state, regional, and national titles. As a level 10, he was selected for the Junior Olympic Pre-Elite team in tumbling and double-mini. He continued to the Elite level where he was chosen to represent the USA in two Junior World Championships in Russia and France. Cameron is a USAG Professional Member, is safety certified, a Cat. 2 T&T judge and has spent years coaching at the recreational level and team. He attended Liberty University and works for Blue Ridge Logistics here in Lynchburg.
Girl’s Gymnastics Xcel Team Coach & Coordinator
Liz Matts has been a gymnastics coach for the past 8 years and has enjoyed working with her students, helping them to achieve new skills. As a coach at Dynamic Gymnastics, she works hard to take all of her gymnasts to the next level. Liz’s love for gymnastics started when she was younger and competed with Stafford Royals Gymnastics. She is also an accomplished cheerleader cheering for Liberty University for 2 years. She hopes to give her students the same love for gymnastics that she has always had. Liz is a graduate of Liberty University with a degree in Public Health. She also has her USAG Safety Certification and Coaching Certification.
Girls J.O. Team Coach
Kellie started gymnastics at the age of 6, and began competing for Lynchburg Academy at age 7. When she was 12, she moved to Roanoke Academy where she competed level 8 and level 9. In 2007, she qualified to level 8 Regional Championships, where she competed for the Region 7 Gymnastics Team. In 2012, Kellie began coaching gymnastics, and pole-vaulting for Liberty University’s Track and Field team. She pole-vaulted for 2 years, until a back injury prevented her from continuing. She felt that this injury was God’s way of opening the door for her to be fully committed to coaching. Kellie has been a gymnastics team coach for 4 years now, and has her USAG Professional Membership and safety certification. In May of 2016, she graduated from Liberty University with a B.S. in Kinesiology (Teacher Licensure). Kellie is passionate about gymnastics and finds so much joy in sharing that passion through coaching.
Girls J.O. Team Coach
Anna started her gymnastics career at five years of age, training at Byers Gymnastics in California. She quickly advanced through the levels, competing through level eight. Anna took her love for gymnastics from competing to coaching. She loves working with children of all ages watching them have fun learning different skills and techniques. She also teaches her students that hard work and determination will help them in every area of their life. Anna is loved by her students and is an asset to the Dynamic program. She currently attends Liberty University majoring in marketing. Anna is a USAG certified coach and has her safety certification.
Girls Pre-Team Coach
Jessie has been a gymnastics coach in Lynchburg for the last six years teaching everything from preschool classes through competitive gymnastics, cheerleading, and tumbling teams. Jessie’s love for the gym began when she started competitive gymnastics at the age of seven and continued through level 8. Since starting her coaching career, she has been used for summer camps, recreational classes, choreography, and her favorite, the competitive gymnastics team. She has such a passion for progressing gymnasts past what they think they are capable of. While at Dynamic, Jessie uses her years of experience helping recreational class as well as being a part of the team coaching staff. Jessie graduated from Liberty University with a major in Social Work, and she hopes to change the lives of those around her for God’s glory. While at Liberty, Jessie pole vaulted for the Liberty Track and Field team. Although Jessie has a lot on her plate, she is thankful to have so many passions in life to pursue.
Dynamic Cheer All-Star Coach
Chrishonda has more than 20 years of cheer, choreography, and dance experience in Lynchburg, Va. She started cheering at the young age of 5 years old at Heritage Elementary School, advanced to high school cheer at Heritage High School where she competed in the VA District and Regional’s competition. In addition to high school cheer, Chrishonda participated in competitions with the Cheer Xtreme All-Star Team. Her dedication and passion for cheer, lead her to Head Cheer Coach for Heritage Elementary School, 2006-2008 and later for Dunbar Middle School in 2012 where she established Dunbar’s first Competition Squad. Under her leadership and direction, Dunbar competed in Spirit Fest, Cheer Sport, and Spirit Solutions. The very first year they won 2nd place and 2nd year, 1st place! Chrishonda also choreographed for Premier Cheer in 2016.
Chrishonda’s choreography experience originated during her years of Theater/Chorus in elementary school, middle school, and high school. Chrishonda also choreographed and danced under the direction of Keith Lee at Dance Theater of Lynchburg from 1996-2005 and the Academy of Fine Arts 2005-2006.
Chrishonda’s belief is that a team can accomplish whatever they strive for as long as they share one thing in common and that’s One Heartbeat. It is no surprise that she is an Attendance Clerk and Dance Instructor for Lynchburg City Schools where she can instill this within her students.
Chrishonda is currently majoring in Exercise Science at Liberty University and will obtain her CPT as well.
Dynamic Cheer All-Star Coach
Will is no stranger to the area, or to the World of Cheerleading. Will started his cheerleading journey right here on the outskirts of Lynchburg, in the town of Rustburg, where he competitively cheered for Rustburg High School winning District & Regional championships and placing at State. After high school, Will cheered at Bridgewater College participating on their co-ed football and basketball cheerleading teams.While at Bridgewater College, he started coaching at Turner Ashby High School in Harrisonburg, VA as assistant football and basketball cheerleading coach. Will even took on the role of becoming the competitive cheerleading coach at Turner Ashby, taking the “Knights” all the way to states for their first time in over 3 years.To continue his coaching experience, Will joined the Southern ChaRm Cheerleading Company, in Waynesboro VA, becoming a cheer, dance and tumbling coach to numerous teams and athletes winning countless awards. He also competed on Southern ChaRm’s Open Co-ed Level 5 All-Star team.Moving back to his home town of Rustburg after graduating, Will has been helping out with local high schools in the area, judging tryouts, hosting “Cheernastic” camps, and assisting in practices, all while working at Wells Fargo. He brings experience, professionalism, and a ton of enthusiasm to the Dynamic All-Star cheerleading coaching staff.
Potter may have been born and raised in Roanoke, but he’s been to more countries (29 to be exact) than US states. Potter has a great love for traveling and experiencing new cultures, which has in turn provided him with many skills, both useful and exotic! He has done everything from working international business in Uganda to becoming a certified scuba diving instructor in the Cayman Islands, to mastering the fire knife in Hawaii.
Potter is a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, which provides him with a unique perspective into the way the body works, and especially how that applies to the world of gymnastics. He has been coaching gymnastics in central VA since 2013, and part of the Dynamic Gymnastics family since Fall 2017. When he is not coaching, Potter devotes his time to pursuing music and film, as God has put a passion on his heart to change the word through media. Coach Potter is a wonderful addition to the Dynamic coaching staff!
Girls Recreational, Developmental and Pre-team Coach
Kathleen started gymnastics at an early age and competed for eight years winning a state all around championship in 2013. She was also a state beam and vault champion in her competitive career. After 10 years as a gymnast, Kathleen has taken her passion for the sport in the direction of coaching. She hopes to share the same love and passion with the children she coaches. Kathleen’s smile and energy are contagious as she encourages her students to reach new goals. After graduating high school with an advanced diploma, she hopes to go to college to pursue a career as an emergency room nurse specializing in trauma.
Abby fell in love with gymnastics when she was twelve years old, when she attended a summer gymnastics camp. She was drawn to the gym and could not spend enough time practicing. As she grew to love the sport, she began to compete, excelling on floor and bars. She especially loved the comradery with her teammates and was a great encourager to all. Abby is the youngest of a big family, and she has seven nieces and nephews. She has shared her love for gymnastics with them and now has the opportunity to coach them and other kids at the gym. She hopes to instill the importance of setting goals and working hard to achieve them while helping and encouraging those around you. She also has a heart for animals and shows in the Hunter Jumpers with her horse, Shay. Abby is a senior in high school and hopes to study nursing to become a NICU nurse.
Addison (Addie) Shupe
Recreational Program Director & Coach
Addie has been tumbling and cheering since the age of five. She began her cheerleading journey at Tomahawk Elementary School, where she fell in love with the world of tumbling and cheer. She continued on the path of cheering and tumbling throughout her middle school and high school years, where she competitively cheered for Brookville High School. After 11 years in the sport, she has taken her passion in the direction of coaching.
While attending Brookville High School, she participated in the Jump Start Program, allowing her to skip two full grades. Addie participated in the Early College Program and completed classes at Central Virginia Community College. Her goal is to finish out her college years at Sweet Briar University.
Addie is very active in her local community and knows the importance of giving her time and support to the community. She has volunteered her time at Brookville Timberlake Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for the past three years.
Addie is looking forward to putting her years of experience to use coaching these amazing young athletes.
Trampoline and Tumbling Recreational Coach
Timothy started Trampoline at the age of 13 and won his first national title at age 14! His strong work ethic has helped him move up the levels quickly over the past four years competing T&T, and helped him win numerous State Championships. This past season, Timothy qualified as an Elite-level athlete on Trampoline, despite injuring his foot twice within the same year and missing the entire previous training and competition season. In addition to training and competing, Timothy has been coaching for over 2 years and shares his passion for T&T with his students and teammates. Timothy is homeschooled and is in 12th grade. He is safety certified, a Category 3 Judge, and brings experience and enthusiasm to Dynamic!
Recreational Gymnastics Coach
Maddie took her first gymnastics class at the age of 4 but was unable to continue due to Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. Four years later, she was in remission and returned to gymnastics and started competing on team. Maddie’s love for the sport has now taken her in a new direction, coaching! Her enthusiasm for gymnastics is evident in her coaching, and she loves watching her students fall in love with the sport just like she did. Maddie plans to attend Liberty University to study nursing. She is a real asset to the Dynamic coaching staff and brings enthusiasm to each of her classes.
Faith Carrick-T&T Pre-team & Recreational Coach
Faith is a bundle of energy and a favorite coach and birthday party coordinator. She started her gymnastics career at Dynamic as an athlete on the Trampoline & Tumbling team competing for many years and winning State and Regional Championships. She also competed at Nationals placing 8th in the nation! She brings her enthusiasm for the sport of gymnastics to every class that she teaches. Faith loves children and coaching, and she hopes to teach her students that learning new skills is challenging and fun. She is safety certified through USAG.
Paula loves children and gymnastics! As a mom of three gymnasts, she has spent many years in the gym and became a USAG professional member over ten years ago. Paula has coached pre-school gymnastics, is a Cat. 1 T&T Judge, and serves on the VA USAG Board of Directors as the technical chair. She has served on the VAUSAG board for many years as State Chair and Secretary promoting the sport of trampoline & tumbling. With a Masters of Education, Paula has taught school and been an Admissions Director, but she is now enjoying working at the gym with her kids.
